Long day
02/09/2010 by Dave.
Yesterday seemed to fill up all by itself, as days often do. With a n idea to get for my next primary assembly, which included a phonecall to someone from TearFund, then off to the 60 Second Club, where we started praying for friends by name using post-it notes, as well as for my meeting with the staff. Then spent some time with DavidĀ before heading home to fix the brakes on the car.
That went badly, with seized on bolts. Now I need to await new parts as the bolts cannot be reused. Frustrating having the car off the road.
Didn’t make the school at lunch but then prepared for the meeting, before heading back to school. Seven staff turned up to hear about Viz-a-Viz and the plans seemed to be warmly received. The next step is to meet with a smaller group to try to plan a timetable; all encouraging.
Lochcarron CofS prayer meeting in the evening, for which they had to pick me up as Ruth was using her car. Another encouraging meeting as I shared the vision for the Viz-a-Viz week as we seek support from churches. Back by 10 to write the assembly for the morning; which by midnight I’d got to a working idea!
OK, maybe a bit waffly, but the assembly in Kyle came together as we looked at a family from Cambodia with the TearFund harvest material. FairTrade issues next week. Roddie took me through to Heaste as we met as leaders together to pray and talk stragetically about our respective work. We usually meet fortnightly but that’s me now until November with the busy term ahead and a holiday in October booked.
A quieter afternoon and what a relief to get the brakes on the car to a stage where I can start to rebuild them. Thanks Roddy for your help! Managed to get video and sound set up for John MacRae’s funeral and everything worked first time, so stayed on for the final worship time with the family before an early start for the funeral tomorrow. Alison’s cancelled the Kyleakin assembly which takes the pressure off a bit…
